Long Shadows – Extraordinary Gift Box
Long Shadows is the creation of retired Château Ste. Michelle CEO Allen Shoup. While he was at Ste. Michelle, Shoup forged a partnership with Ernie Loosen of the Mosel and Piero Antinori of Tuscany, two of the world’s leading wine estate owners, to create Washington state wines using their expertise. After retiring, Shoup continued this merging of Washington grapes with many of the world’s most acclaimed wine makers. This branded, wooden gift box gathers together a wealth of expertise from around the wine world, and contains the following wines:

Chester-Kidder 2005
Gilles Nicault, former winemaker for Woodward Canyon, one of the most acclaimed Washington state wineries, makes this Bordeaux style blend of 45% Cabernet Sauvignon, 36% Syrah, 10% Petit Verdot, 9% Cabernet Franc, aged 30 months in tight-grained French oak barrels.

Feather 2006
Randy Dunn, famous wine maker of Cabernet Sauvignon grown on Howell Mountain (before founding his winery Randy Dunn was winemaker at Caymus for 10 years). Feather 2006 is 100% Cabernet Sauvignon, aged 22 months in new French oak.

 

Pedestal 2006
Michel Rolland, owner of Château Bon Pasteur in Pomerol and famous wine consultant. This wine is 86% Merlot, which has established Washington state as a great region for this variety, 8% Cabernet Sauvignon, 4% Petit Verdot, 2% Malbec. Whole-berry fermentation was used to emphasize the wine’s fruitiness. Aged 22 months in French oak, 85% new.

Pirouette 2005
Philippe Melka, famous in Napa Valley for wine making at Hundred Acre, Vineyard 29, and Quintessa. Pirouette is a blend of 57% Cabernet Sauvignon, 20% Merlot, 14% Syrah, 5% Malbec, 4% Cabernet Franc from low yields of less than three tons an acre.

Saggi 2006
Ambrogio and Giovanni Folonari, Tuscan family owning several of the greatest Chianti estates such as Nozzole, Cabreo, and Ruffino. Saggi is 42% Cabernet Sauvignon, 39% Sangiovese, and 19% Syrah. Aged 19 months in French oak, 60% new.

 

Sequel 2006
John Duval, winemaker for 15 years of Penfold’s Grange, Australia’s iconic Shiraz. Sequel is also Shiraz or Syrah at 96% of the blend and 4% Cabernet Sauvignon. Aged 18 months in 65% new French oak, and 300-liter hogsheads of American oak.
